Devan has spent his entire life in the tea trade. He grew up in the Tamil Nadu state of South India and since he was a youngster has been surrounded with a family tea environment in the Nilgiri mountains. After college training and business experience in almost all aspects of India's tea trade, he emigrated to the US and founded International Tea Importers in Los Angeles in 1992. Since that time he has operated with the goal of making the finest teas from around the world available to all American tea consumers. Today, Devan is arguably considered one of the countries foremost authorities and experts on specialty tea and is doubtlessly one of few in the tea industry that is positioned to commission and acquire "bespoke teas" from his home region and other areas around the globe. His creation of the Nilgiri Tea Society, along with renowned author and tea connoisseur, James Norwood Pratt, is the culmination of a life-time's involvement with the teas produced in his native soil of the Nilgiri Tea Society.

We also carry a wide selection of Rooibos and Honeybush herbal blends as well as over 20 other herbs and herbal blends, including Fruit Tisanes and Mates. We are certified organic by QAI and offer 100% Organic Nilgiri Black and Green Teas from several renowned estates, including the Korakundah Estate in the Nilgiri Region of India. Additionally, we also offer a wide selection of flavored teas, most of which use a high quality 100% Nilgiri black tea base. All of our flavored teas are made to order and are flavored at our own facility in Pico Rivera.
